Thank You for Supporting Chips for Children 2017!
Our 4th annual Chips for Children casino night fundraising event took place on Friday, October 27, at Greensboro Country Club. Our bean counters are hard at work tallying the final results and we’ll announce the total raised for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro soon. Stay tuned!
(Hint: our goal for 2017 was to raise $50,000 – fingers crossed!)
Sincere thanks to our sponsors and all who attended for making it the most memorable Chips for Children yet. And extra thanks to the Sleeping Booty Band for the fabulous music to cap the evening!

About the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro
Chips for Children supports local programs of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro. Disaster One is wholeheartedly committed to their mission because, as our president Ras Fenger eloquently stated, “An early investment in these young club members will pay long-term dividends, not just for the club members but also for our community.”
Funds raised from Chips for Children will help the Clubs sustain their afterschool and summer programs’ focus on academic success and character development while instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, and belonging in each club member.
Did you know?
- 98% of Boys & Girls Club members graduate from high school
- 90% of club members improve academically
- 90% improve reading
- 74% of club members volunteer at least once a year
- 90% say they can stand up for what is right, even if their friends disagree
- Over 400 members in The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro
- 88% expect to complete some sort of post-secondary education
Chips for Children 2016 was a smashing success thanks to our generous sponsors and all who attended:
On November 22, 2016 Disaster One president Ras Fenger (right) presented a $40,000 check to Bill Burling (left, Boys & Girls Clubs Advisory Council) and Lee Staton (center, Boys & Girls Clubs Executive Director).
“It’s a great honor to present these proceeds from Chips for Children to the clubs,” said Fenger in making the presentation. “We’re excited by the success of this year’s event and we’re looking forward to an even more successful event next year.”
