A 6th floor mechanical fire at the Carolina Beach Courtyard Marriott triggered the sprinkler system throughout the hotel, sending water all the way down to the first floor lobby and sending guests to look for new accommodations.
As guests evacuated, Disaster One’s Wilmington team responded on Tuesday evening and worked through the night to extract the water, perform demolition in in damaged areas of the lobby, and begin the drying process. Due to the extent of damage, our Fayetteville branch also sent technicians to assist in the effort. The team continued working all day Wednesday, making it possible for the hotel to reopen on a limited basis Wednesday afternoon.
Cleanup and repairs continue and the hotel will be back to business as usual as quickly as possible.
